Maria Immaculata in Trapani work 53 x 36 x 5 cm. Trapani, Sicily, mid 17th century. Copper, chased, cast, cut, fire-gilded, white enamel and set with red coral, partly figured and partly ornamentally cut. Octagonal devotional picture typical for Trapani with radial intimated cartouches and symmetrical ornamental decoration in coral fragments on the gilded copper ground. Central octagonal cartouche with coral carved figure of the Virgin Mary crowned by two angels. The figure is framed by cast, partially white enamelled fragments, which are combined with coral flowers and blossoms, and plastically shaped cherubim heads. In the upper centre with a cast suspension ring. Ornamentally chased on the back.
