Gold case Engine-turned dial and Breguet hands Hand-wound mechanical movement Calendar, repeater and jumping hours Diam: 56 mm Coming from a long line of watchmakers, Charles Oudin is considered one of the finest creators of his time. A pupil of Louis Breguet, he spent his entire life in Paris, where he decided to devote himself to luxury and precision timepieces. The front of his workshop can still be seen in the gallery of the Royal Palace in the heart of the 1st arrondissement of Paris. He took part in the most important exhibitions of the 19th century, in France and abroad, where his works gave him a great notoriety. Among his clients of the time were Emperors and Empresses, Kings and Queens, and even the Pope. This pocket watch is a formidable example of Charles Oudin's work, its guilloché dial and hands recalling the codes of his master Louis Breguet's creations. These complications, which are unusual for a pocket watch, are a fine example of the French watchmaker's know-how.
