Siliceous paste with metallic lustre and cobalt decoration
Iran, Kashan, late 12th - early 13th century, Seljuq Dynasty
Section from the period known as the "great figures" or "monumental style", decorated with figures in alternating radiating cartouches of calligraphy and arabesques, and a portrait in a central medallion. On the outside there is a frieze of vegetal motifs, and traces of cobalt on the base.
