Famous special issue of the Brussels magazine Variétés devoted to Surrealism in 1929 by André Breton and Louis Aragon. Texts by René Crevel, Robert Desnos (pre-initial edition of The Night of loveless night), Paul Éluard, Sigmund Freud (important text on humour), E.L.T. Mesens, Paul Nougé, Benjamin Péret, Raymond Queneau, André Thirion... Aragon and Breton gave there The Jesuit Treasure. Illustrations by Max Ernst, Picabia, René Magritte, Man Ray, Yves Tanguy... In the first, Nougé apologizes for his delay: "Nadja touched me to the point that I thought I was doing well by delaying writing to you a little. I was afraid of betraying, by a clumsiness whose effects I have only too often seen, something strangely intimate and pure [...].
