Two booklets printed during the summer of 1928 by the Hours Press installed by Nancy Cunard in Normandy, at La Chapelle Réanville.
The poem Voyageur includes four verses:
Comme il allait de con en con
He became terribly sad
Comme il allait de con en con
Terribly sad
A toi Nancy l'amour is printed in capital letters formed of typographical ornament.
Extraordinary signed autograph letter to Nancy Cunard:
To my last love, and hell to any kind of love
Louis.
The love affair between Nancy Cunard and Louis
Aragon in 1926-1928 was as passionate as it was tumultuous. During a stay in Venice, Nancy
Cunard put an end to it by leaving with a jazz pianist she had just met,
Henry Crowder. The abandoned writer tried to end his life. Despite this sudden and painful break-up, Aragon had his poem of despair published on Nancy Cunard's presses, enriching it with this heart-wrenching sending.
The reunion of the two booklets is a rare occurrence.
Important fold marks. The second plate bears a label from the restoration workshop of the National Library attesting to its disinfection on 29 November 1968.
