First book by Sarane Alexandrian (1927-2009), art historian, essayist and novelist: he joined the Surrealist group in 1947. He had to leave shortly afterwards with his friend Victor Brauner to protest against Matta's exclusion. A unique copy enriched with eight original drawings in colour by Victor Brauner, one of which is entitled "Unanimous Congress", with a signed autograph: To Jacques Legendre for his patience, his kindness [sic] in the service of life, my profound gratitude and my friendship, Victor Brauner 1954. Of the seven other original compositions in ink or pencil and gouache, four are full-page. Brauner's coloured etching also bears a consignment to Jacques Legendre.
