■ ESSENTIAL CHASSIS COVER LOUIS XV ESTAMPILLE DE NICOLAS HEURTAUT, circa 1758 In beech and walnut, moulded, carved and gilded in oil, decorated with staples, foliated and flowery scrolls, the backrest moving and enveloping, the belt responding to the same movement, the six slightly arched legs finished in curl, stamped twice N. HEURTAUT on the back crossbar, orange velvet cover H.: 108 cm. (42 ½ in.) ; L.: 187 cm. (73 ½ in.) ; P.: 90 cm. (35 ½ in.) Nicolas Heurtaut, received master carpenter in 1753 Provenance Perhaps Louise-Honorine Crozat du Châtel, duchess of Choiseul; then Marie-Marguerite-Adélaïde de Bullioud, countess of Séran, castle of the Tower (Normandy); then probably by descent until the end of the 19th century; then Princes de Beauvau, château de Sainte-Assise (Seine-et-Marne) most probably until 1922; then the Jean Albert Seligmann Gallery, 23 place Vendôme, Paris, around 1933; then the Ortiz Linares collection around 1955; then the Paul-Louis Weiller collection.
