Great Heriz Yoravan (Iran) mid 20th century
Wool velvet on cotton foundations. Brick field decorated with hooks, scorpions, flowers and stylised geometrically multicoloured foliage, decorated with a very large central star-shaped floral medallion with double symmetrical stylised crowns. Four ivory spandrels with decoration reminiscent of the central field
Triple borders, the main one being midnight blue with geometrically stylized tortoiseshells interlaced with crenellated floral branches in polychrome
