Large and fine Tabriz (Northern Iran) mid 20th century
Velvet made of quality silky wool on cotton foundations. Old pink field decorated with scrolls and twigs of palmettes, sprigs, flower buds and geometrically stylized foliage decorated with a central medallion of pale yellow, navy and azure blue cruciform flowers.
Four spandrels reminiscent of the central medallion.
Triple borders, the main one of which is a saffron with geometrically
stylized turtle shells. Approx. 7000 knots per dm2
