TABRIZ woven in the famous workshop of the Master weaver
DJAFFER (Persia)
End of the XIXth early XXth century
The frame consists of seven borders, symbolizing the seven steps leading to paradise. The main one is anthracite with interlacing floral branches and six smaller ones, ivory and brick, with garlands of flowers. They frame a plain purple field supporting an oblong crenellated anthracite medallion with an ivory rosette and its arrowed pendants. Four large arabesque spandrels with similar decoration, enriched with ivory lotus flowers, complete the 'Ghab Korani' decoration.
