ROPS Félicien (Namur 1833 † 1898 Essonnes). [Youth playing the flute]. 1889. Pencil drawing and grey ink wash on vellum, preparatory to an illustration for the Legend of the Sexes. Poèmes hystériques (1882) by Edmond Haraucourt - the composition can be found in the frontispiece of the 1921 edition of Clos Bruneau. Dated lower right and annotated in pencil: "I will drill three holes, three holes / and the canal will become a flute / Ed. Haraucourt / La Légende des Sexes. "Drawing executed in the margin of an engraved and trimmed proof. Ref : Exteens n°1095. 20 x 14 cm. Condition B (slightly dusty leaf).
