N'gombi" harp (Kwele, Gabon) Wood, animal skin, vegetable fiber, nylon, iron, kaolin. H. 82 cm Beautiful old harp of the Kwele people established in the north-east of Gabon and in the DRC. The skin is fixed to the soundboard with wooden nails. The original lacing of the strings on the pegs is characteristic of this ancient method of fixing. Related to the Kota group, the Kwele are renowned for the quality of their artistic achievements.
