Lubuko" divination pillar (Luba, DRC) Dense wood H: 16 cm Following the example of the "katatora", the divination pestle "Lubuko" are among the divination tools favoured by the diviner in order to communicate with the beyond. This flared pestle is used to crush the white clay, kaolin, during the ritual. The pestle is surmounted by a female figure with a beautiful four-lobed headdress that is tied at the back in four cruciform braids decorated with scarification motifs.
