The unconventional ethos of Raja Ravi Verma flows through modern-day Indian painting with full vigour. His stark, almost erotic, portrayal of the feminine form and his attention to the slightest details of the human presence, come out with great beauty in this copy of lady Damayanti held in conversation by the swan that flew to her from Nal.
