As Shiva-Parvati motion to the music of His damroo, as the trishool rises high in the air, a new cycle of being comes into existence. Destruction is crucial. Without it, the creative forces are unable to set to work. The divine process is a manifestation of all the triguna, sattva-rajasa-tamasa (prakrti), in unison with purusha itself. The Lord Shiva is the manifestation of purusha, while His wife, Devi Parvati, is the manifestation of the triguna in constituent harmony. In this large-sized oil composition, the divine couple are captured in the midst of their destructive-creative nritya (dance)._x000D_He, in the midst of His tandava; She, in Her laya against Him. Together they motion in unison on a tiger-skin mat. The wooden sculptures of their sons, Lord Ganesha and Lord Kartika, flank the background, in all their monotone iconographic beauty. The emerald-green grass beneath their feet is in sharp contrast to the fiery gold of the praksha (light, symbolic of sattvaguna) emanating from the dancing couple._x000D_It is a highly energetic dance. From the dreadlocks of the Lord to the shringar of the Devi, they sway in the air from the momentum of their tandava. Nagas (snakes) and a skull-garland and a loincloth are all He wears, while She is in a gorgeous silk saree complete with gold and silver shringar. The faces of both are marked by a composure of sharp intelligence and solemnity. Specifications: Oil on Canvas Artist: Sabita Hengaju 23.5 inch X 28 inch
