Specifications: Oil on Canvas 39 inch x 51 inxh -With Frame 34.5 inch x 47 inch - Painting Guru Gobind was the tenth and the last guru of the Sikhs. He was born when the nation's honour was at its lowest ebb. People were groaning under pain, agony and humiliation caused to them by Mughal rulers. It seems Guru Gobind Singh came into this world with a special mission.Unlike the nine previous gurus, Guru Gobind took on the form of a warrior, as can be seen here. He holds an arrow in his hand; a sword hangs to his waistband, the hilt of which is visible. His majestic persona continues with strings of pearls and stones adorning his neck and the turban. On his wrist rests a hawk.Yellow has always symbolized bhakti; thus the guru wears a yellow 'choga' and the turban. A divine white halo surrounds his head.Guru is the central theme but the artist has given the background it's deserved due. The clear blue sky and the deep blue river vie for prominence with the dense, green vegetation. The foreground, and the most of the background has variations of green. The dullness of the same helps to catapult the brilliance of the protagonist into more prominence. This description by Renu Rana.
