57 g meteorite, fell in March 1960
Chondrite-type meteorite H5 named GAO, fallen in March 1960 in Burkina Faso. One of the most prized meteorite falls, it is hard to imagine a collection of meteorites without a Gao meteorite. It was a real meteorite shower that fell near the villages of Gao and Guenie in March 1960. The meteorites of Gao of more than 100 g became rare. This specimen presents a beautiful black fusion crust with a brown patina typical of its stay of several decades on Earth. The meteorite measures 55 x 20 x 20 mm for 57 g.
