Armand Heullant (1834–1909) Lot n° 34

With this panitning Armand continued the tradition of troubadour paintings from the first half of the 19th century with its romantic enthusiasm for the Middle Ages. In a late Gothic interior of the 15th century, a lady listens to a cavalier playing the lute. You can tell from the faces that love is about the song as well as between the two people.
