Theophile of VIAU. The Works of (...). Rouen, David Ferrand's home, 1640. 3 parts in a strong vol. in-12, basane with a title piece "POETES", old restorations Divided into three parts, this edition contains the pieces written in prison. Prince of poets, baroque, libertine and modern spirit, Viau scandalized his peers but was in his century the most widely read poet. Condemned by the classics, he quickly fell into oblivion before being exhumed in the 19th century by Théophile Gautier.
