A table clock with hourly and quaterly chimes, the movement circa 1600, the cabinet and several of the dials from the last quarter of the 20th century
Our clock is a skillful reconstruction, whose roof treatment is reminiscent of the Metzker clock of 1573, in the style of the Augsburg clocks of the late 16th century. The layout of the spider on the astrolabe is very similar to the one signed 'A S' which adorns a table clock from Augsburg now in the collections of the Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich (see Maurice & Mayr, 1980, pp.54 and 196-7), as is the spider on a clock by Jeremias Metzger from 1573 preserved in the Beyer Museum, Zurich (see "Antike uhren: das Museum der Zeitmessung Beyer Zurich", 1982, p.33).
