Yoshitomo NARA Japanese artist was born on December 5, 1959 in Hirosaki. He studied at the Aichi Perfectural University of Fine Arts and Music, where he obtained a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Fine Arts, and at the Kumstakamie in Düsseldorf in the 1980s and 1990s.
Today he lives and works in Tokyo.
Known for his naïve and dark works of children and animals whose large eyes pierce a strong emotion. Nara appears within the Japanese neo-pop movement. Strongly influenced by Eastern and Western popular culture, he also draws inspiration from punk art, graffiti, manga, in order to mix these universes with human tenderness and malice.
