Opera. Paris, Jean de Roigny, 1549. 2 parts in one volume in folio, brown calf, dishes cold decorated with a double set of fat fillets and small corner finials, red edges (Binding of the period). Good enlarged edition of the works of the German mystic Thomas Hemerken dit Thomas a Kempis, the presumed author of the Imitation of Jesus Christ, established by Josse Bade and Gabriel Dupuiherbault (Putherbeus), a regular in the workshops of Jean de Roigny.
The title vignette on wood represents an active Renaissance press, a mark of Jean de Roigny who married Josse Bade's daughter.
The first part reproduces the 1523 edition given by Josse Bade; the second part contains works added by the new publisher Gabriel Dupuiherbault.
Rubbed binding, a few small lacks of leather, a few clear halos in the title. Good condition inside. Handwritten ex-libris at the title.
