The present hours on Rōme [...]. Paris, Philippe Pigouchet for Simon Vostre, August 22, 1498. In-4, red morocco, double gilt fillets, spine decorated with double gilt fillets, green title-piece, inside lace, gilt edges (Binding from the 18th century). One of the most beautiful French Book of Hours of the late 15th century. This precious incunabulum printed in gothic characters contains an almanac for the years 1488 to 1508 and bears on the title the typographic mark of Philippe Pigouchet. The edition is adorned with 22 large figures, including the anatomical man, seven of which were not found in previous editions, numerous smaller vignettes of the saints, a large vignette showing the mass of Saint Gregory on f. h2, and above all striking engraved borders framing each page of text. Superb copy, fresh and very well preserved, in a beautiful 18th century morocco binding. Ex-libris of the seminary of Langres and handwritten ex-dono on a guard.
