Greek (Attic) ca. 430-410 B.C..
Clay. H. 19.9 cm.
A quiet scene decorates this small lekythos. A woman is seated, shown in profile as she gazes at her reflection in a hand-mirror. The himation which envelopes her lower body is preserved in a vivid red. Less visible, a standing figure entering from the left: perhaps an attendant proferring items of toilette. Remnants of a historical label beneath handle. Condition: Intact. Surface worn, with areas of the white-ground flaked off.
