Western Greek 5th cent. B.C.. Clay. H. 18.2 cm Bust of the river god Acheloos, with prominent ears and broad beard. An spout-like opening between the pointed horns. Broad, sack-shaped beard. The reverse slightly hollowed out. Condition: Tip of nose slightly worn. Brownish deposits on the entire surface. Formerly Herbert A. Cahn, Basle, 1990's.
