A Statuette of a Boeotian Horse

Greek, Boeotian 6th cent. B.C.. Terracotta. H. 8.3 cm. L. 10.7 cm Stylized horse with splayed legs. Long, curved neck. Slim, elongated body. The tail lies close to the body. Stripes and cross-hatching in reddish matt glaze adorns almost the entire horse. Condition: Head broken off. Part of tail lost. Paint partially abraded or flaked. Formerly Coll. Prof. Hans Dahn (1919-2019), Lausanne; collection formed in the 1950s.
