PAIR OF "BOULLE" MARQUETRY MIRRORS Munich, circa 1700 Oak frame, red tortoiseshell, brass, silver and antique mirrors H. 78 cm, W. 58,5 cm This elegant pair of mirrors is decorated with a marquetry called "Boulle", alternating motifs of tortoiseshell, brass and silver. Rectangular in shape, our mirrors have a stylized vegetal decoration alternating with reserves, the whole enclosed by brass rods. The upper part is decorated with a cornice of red tortoiseshell palmettes on a silver background. The damper is scrolled and decorated in the centre with a shell and satyr-headed decoration surrounded by stylised vegetal motifs.
