oil on board with a gold background, 80x72 cm, this refined artist deserves the merit of having been able to bring the Venetian figurative culture of the early fifteenth century from the still Byzantine and strongly iconic linguistics of master Paolo Veneziano to a new and more softened Gothic-international metric. His very sensitive poetics, attentive to the calligraphy of Gentile da Fabriano and Pisanello, is expressed here in the nuanced tonal shift, in the rich gold work and in the almost botanical meticulousness used for the rendering of the bed of flowers that welcomes the Virgin, suggesting for the table a dating to Jacobello's maturity around the third decade of the century.
