Almost about the same format and obviously dealing with the same theme, this work by Forain dramatizes the backstage of the Opera with strong contrasts between darkness and bright colors.
This time, the character outside the group of dancers is a woman, around whom all the young girls gather. The lively treatment of the tutus with this red and orange brings an electric energy to the stage. It is difficult to discern what is going on in the background, silhouettes seem to be drawn but remain hidden behind a veil of opacity through which the stage lights stand out.
This lack of clarity is of course a way of maintaining the mystery surrounding the activities of the young dancers and this captivating world for the young artist, the night world.
