Famous report of the first voyage around the world made by a French expedition. Several Pacific islands were discovered on this occasion.
This report, the work of a disciple of the philosophers, himself a man of science, was an immense success, especially the description of Tahiti, which left deep traces in the minds of writers. The accompanying Tahitian vocabulary constitutes the first European impression of a Polynesian language.
Worn spine, small binding snags, perfect condition inside.
