ISPAHAN (Iran), first part of the 20th century
Five ivory and marine counterborders with floral scrolls and interlacing floral motifs frame the main ruby with a succession of floral corollas on stems of polychrome flowers. The ensemble encloses an oblong beige field with arabesques, which supports in its centre, in the middle of multicoloured vegetal interlacing, an impressive cruciform medallion, polylobed in the most beautiful effect. Four cherry-red spandrels with floral scrolls complete the ensemble.
