Exceptional and very important MELAYER (Iran), late 19th century, early 20th finely knotted
An anthracite field with braces, covered with an inextricable ivory vegetal trellis with "gourds" in the shape of botehs welcomes four magnificent poly-lobed mandorla medallions, planted with bouquets of different polychrome flowers. Six halves and four quarters of identical medallions flank the field. Two ivory counter-edges with garlands of flowers frame the main one, following open corollas placed on plant branches. Grey-green outer band. Great distinction and beautiful presence.524x210cm
Technical characteristics: Wool velvet on cotton foundations. Good general condition. Nice fineness. Density: Approx. 8500 knots per square metre
