Magnificent and elegant KACHAN SOOF carpet in silk, in relief on blue silk chains (Iran), late 19th century, early 20th
century A vision of paradise is offered to us when we observe the delicate graphics of this "Soof" carpet (velvet in relief). Our first source of astonishment is provided by this field of deep sky blue gradation. The second reason for our bewitchment lies in the inextricable intertwining plant decoration, originating at the base of the field of this carpet, where four trees of life are rooted with stems, foliage and branches covered with leaves and blossoming flowers, each more exuberant than the other. A real explosion of life is transmitted to us by this impressive array of shimmering colours. All the more so as a magnificent ruby vase is placed in the middle of these woody entities, from which emerge astonishing luxuriant and colourful floral compositions. An imperceptible crenellated and arabesque arcature supports the trellis vaults of flowering stems. The sky-blue border is itself decorated in relief (Soof) with a succession of corollas of lotus flowers placed on polychrome vegetal undulations, decorated with multicoloured flowers. It is flanked by four small ivory counterborders and two other fuchsia roses, all six with garlands of flowers or small flowered boxes. An additional touch of prestige is offered to us by the presence of blue chains at each end forming the fringes of our carpet.
