Important and fine TABRIZ (north-west Iran), c. 1930/40
An ivory field with a brick corolla and floral scrolls hosts an oblong marine counter-field and an old pink mandorla medallion with a large turquoise poly-lobed star-shaped cruciform flower in its centre. The whole is covered with a delicate latticework of polychrome floral stems. The old pink border is a succession of flowers blooming on stems, it is flanked by six old gold and turquoise counter-borders with garlands of flowers. External braid with geometric figures in polychrome.
