Large and thin SARUK (Iran), c. 1930
A dark marine field decorated with multicoloured flowering stems supports a turquoise hexagonal oblong medallion with polychrome corolla seedlings on stems, surrounded by brick and ivory serrations and its arrowed pendants. Four purple spandrels with accolades and plant interlacing frame the ensemble. The main marine border with rosettes on floral branches is flanked by two ivory counter-edges with garlands. Beautiful ensemble.
