Rare, exceptional, and very original KHORASSAN (Persia), mid 19th century
A superb anthracite polylobed floral medallion, with a red heart and a delicate polychrome plant decoration, throne, surrounded by four flowered pistachio boxes with arrows, in the center of a magnificent cherry-red abrasive field. Two imposing hugged, arrowed and interlaced old gold pendants complete the central decoration. Four superb anthracite spandrels with polychrome floral foliage and hunting scenes enclose the whole. Seven borders (the seven steps leading to paradise) frame this majestic carpet; six small ones with garlands of flowers and one, the main one, anthracite with a wreath of flowers in various shades.
Superb quality of preservation, very beautiful wool. (carpet of palace).
