Fine and important carpet SAROUK (Iran), late 19th century, early 20th
A brick field with original flowering and leafy stems, exuberant flowers and cypresses, supports an extraordinary floral medallion, and these pendants. The anthracite medallion decorated with multicoloured flowers hosts a plant heart in the form of a cross of Saint Andrew. Ivory-coloured ecoinçons and excrescences, with stylised plants, enclose the whole. Five thin, warm-coloured counter-borders frame the main midnight blue with inextricable polychrome floral ornamentation.
