Important and magnificent TABRIZ (north-western Iran), late 19th century, early 20th century
A marine field with "a thousand flowers" and weeping willows, supports an oblong, polylobed cherry counter-field, sown with flowers, compartmentalized by ivory ribbons, with angular or arabesque shapes, where deer frolic. In the centre is a polylobed marine medallion with vegetal decoration and an ivory cruciform rosette, sky and brick heart. Two old gold counter-edges with garlands of flowers frame the main marine medallion, with a succession of multicoloured corollas set on ivory foliage. Very beautiful palette of colours.
