Important and original carpet BIDJAR (Persia), circa 1870/80, woven on woollen warps, proving its antiquity
A hexagonal crenellated field, ruby red, serves as a support for an original central medallion night blue, and these floral pendants, in the shape of a large diamond, inlaid with polychrome "Herati" motifs. Four Prussian blue spandrels with stems and branches, profusely adorned with diamonds and flowers, frame the whole. Three borders, two brick and one anthracite, all three with rich garlands of multicoloured flowers, are flanked by a wide ivory outer border with floral crenellations.
