Important and original BIDJAR (Iran), late 19th, early 20th century A ruby field, highlighted with lacework, supports a seedling of large multicoloured medallions, with figurative plant frames and naive-style 'illustrated' subjects. Two royal blue counterborders with garlands of stylized flowers frame the main salmon-flower with interlacing polychrome vegetal branches forming small bouquets. Magnificent and vivid palette. Decoration reminiscent of the French soap factory (influence of the French invasion of Russia under Napoleon 1st) 464 x 312cm Technical characteristics: wool velvet on cotton foundations.
