Exceptional and very important KIRMAN-LAVER carpet (Persia), late 19th century
Ivory field, oblong with foliage and garlands of flowers and foliage, adorned with a sumptuous starry and crenellated rosette in royal blue, ruby and ivory with a ramage of flowers, linked by two pendants, in the shape of a stylized oil lamp.
Four polychrome spandrels with exuberant floral scrolls frame the ensemble. The seven borders (the seven steps of paradise), the main one being royal blue, are all richly decorated with garlands of flowers.
