[BERLIOZ, Hector]. Musical manuscript composed of three notebooks entitled: "First [Second - Third] notebook of Fugue". They contain fugues by Cherubini, Catel, Gossec, Rigel, Lesueur or Langlé.
An autograph mention of Charles Gounod at the foot of the first cover sheet, written in blue pencil, not very legible: "This notebook belonged to Hector Berlioz as a child and contains his first works of fugue and counterpoint. It was given to me by the family of Harriet Smithson [(1800-1854), Berlioz's wife]. Ch. Gounod". And underneath a date which seems to be 18.4.1864. On the left another mention of 4 lines almost illegible.
