L.A.S. [probably to the composer Adrien Limagne (1829-1891)]. Paris, May 6, 1857.
1 p. in-8 on bluish paper with its embossed figure.
Beautiful letter from the young Bizet, aged 19, then in the midst of preparing for the competition at the Institute that would allow him to win the Prix de Rome in July with the cantata Clovis et Clotilde. "If I haven't thanked you for sending your beautiful work, it's because I was in the dressing room for the essay competition at the Institute. I go home and find your solfeggio.
Thank you, a thousand times, for thinking of me [...]. I regret very much that I am not in a better position to praise your work, but rest assured that the little I can do will be done, I will only have to show your Solfège, it will make its propaganda alone and without anyone's help". [Adrien Limagne published, in 1857, Solfège-manuel specially composed for solfeggio lessons, in 3 volumes].
