Jean-Auguste Dampt is a sculptor born in 1853, he was a pupil of Jouffroy and P. Dubois at the Academy of Fine Arts.
During the Universal Exhibition in Paris in 1900, he exhibited alongside Serrurier Bovy in the Palais de l'Electricité where they displayed sconces and chandeliers.
In his creations the inspiration of nature is omnipresent, he creates light fixtures in the form of stems or bouquets of flowers in copper or bronze, hiding the light bulbs with tulips and elements in blown glass.
