Rare shotgun with Picherau percussion system. Round barrels in table. Silver sights. Band marked in gold "Invention - Picherau Brevetée à Paris", thunder lined with gold, with two punches. Breech block with escutcheon on the "rat tail", engraved "Lefaucheux Sr de Picherau Breveté rue J.J. Rousseau à Paris". Trimmings in plain cut iron. Walnut burr walnut stock with a cheek carved with a stylized duck beak partly squared. Wooden chopstick with brass tip. Perfect metal (missing a chimney, cracks and lacks in the wood). Circa 1827. Eugène Picherau. Predecessor of Casimir Lefaucheux (1827), patent in 1824 for improvement of the Pauly rifle, 8 rue Sartine and 5 rue J.J. Rousseau.
