American astronauts.
39 signed portrait photos of NASA astronauts, mostly in color offset printing. Approx. 25 x 20 cm. Inserted in transparent covers in modern ring album, cardboard slipcase. NASA ca. 1962-1975
Between ca. 1962 and 1975 NASA, the US Federal Agency for Space and Flight Science, founded in 1958, published portrait photographs of its most important astronauts for collection. Often these colour photographs, printed in offset, were then presented to the sitter for signature, although some astronauts also relied on technical aids such as polygraphs or signature machines. The photo cards presented here, however, are remarkably well signed throughout, often with a personal dedication, e.g. "To Adolf Emminger. Best wishes from the Moon James Irwin", they all come from the Emminger collection.
On the verso one usually finds a small text about the personality. Among others, there are photos by Alan L. Bean, Frank Borman, Vance Devoe Brand, Eugène A. Cernan, Charles Conrad (2, including 1 signed original photo), Robert L. Crippen, Donn F. Eisele, Joe H. Engle, Ronald E. Evans, Charles G. Fullerton, Guy S. Gardner, John H. Glenn, Richard F. Gordon, S. David Griggs, Fred W. Haise, Terry J. Hart, James B. Irwin, Don L. Lind, Jack Robert Lousma, James A. McDevitt, Robert A. Parker, Harrison H. Schmitt, Russell L. Schweickart, Donald K.
