A fine, small Eger cabinet casket from the estate... Lot n° 343

Free-standing, severely geometric, softwood body, veneered in walnut and partly ebonised. The relief inlays delicately carved in different woods, some in colour, stippled and engraved. The bolts and locks in iron. Pull rings and external fitting in brass, partially engraved. The bands silver-plated and likewise engraved. Mounted on four flattened ball feet, the two-door cabinet with a drawer in the pedestal. The doors open to reveal a fine ward with a central niche, lined with paper. An old inventory stamp "SL 59" inside. The door flanked by a total of eight drawers. A slightly overhanging edge at the top with a further central, sliding compartment in the cornice. A fine, relief-like carving with an almost three-dimensional effect, which was characteristic of the master workshops in Eger. The coat of arms of the Grafen von Solms on the door of the central niche. Behind which a typical inventory stamp of Schloss Laubach, and again on the underside of the base. Dimensions 40.5 x 35 x 24 cm. Comes with a comprehensive expert report prepared by Prof. Jochen Voigt, dated 3 May 2011. For reference: the Kunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin has a similar cabinet. Provenance: Part of a private collection in South Germany since the 1970s. Condition: II
