L.A.S. "Renoir", Cagnes 11 March 1918, to Mrs Maurice GANGNAT, at La Flèche (Sarthe); 1 page and a half in-8, envelope.
To the wife of the great patron and collector Maurice Gangnat, whose portrait he painted in 1916.
"I am in the process of packing my bags to go to Marseilles where I will spend a few months and to the Rhone Valley, weather permitting. I want to take advantage of the exceptional time we have at the moment to do this fugue, which will be a variant for me and I will return to Paris without going back to Cagnes, of which I am a little tired. I am writing to you and to La Flèche so that your husband doesn't break his nose when he can't find anyone" .
