Jean Marc NATTIER. French school of the 19th century. Louise de France, daughter of King Louis XV, circa 1748 Oil on oval canvas mounted on panel. 44 x 36 cm. Beautiful gilded wood and stucco frame. A.B.E. Biography : Louise-Marie de France (1737 - 1787), known as Madame Louise or Madame Dernière, was the youngest of the children of Louis XV and Marie Leszczynska. She was called Madame Louise after her baptism in 1747. She entered the Carmelite convent in 1770 under the name of Therese of St. Augustine, and there she was mistress of novices and later bursar. She was elected prioress three times. She died in 1787 and was declared venerable in 1873.
