Interesting collection consisting of the rare first Latin editions of five treatises by Glauber, published at the same time or very shortly after the German first editions. The German chemist Johann Rudolph Glauber (1604-1670) set up a very famous laboratory in Amsterdam in 1639. He used chemistry as an alchemist but also as a scientist for healing purposes. - Prosperitatis Germaniae: treatise on soil fertility in Germany, the improvement of agricultural yield, defence techniques such as the manufacture of acid weapons (published in 7 parts, until 1661). - Vera ac perfecta descriptio, qua ratione ex vini fecibus: manual for the production of wines and spirits. - Consolatio navigantium: medical manual for sailors. - Tractatus de medicina universalis: treatise on universal medicine. - Opera mineralis: the Mineral Work is one of Glauber's most important treatises.
